vacuum erection device

Synonyms: erection inducer device (EID)

Definition: a VED, battery model Syn: vacuum erection therapy. The now-generic name for a device that creates an erection with vacuum. A hard, plastic cylinder is placed over the penis and a vacuum is created by a manual or battery-driven pump, bringing blood into the penis. An elastic constriction ring is then placed at the base of the penis to prevent the blood from returning (venous leakage), thus maintaining the erection.
