Definition: diagram showing location of pelvic floor muscles The lower part (floor) of the pelvis is made up of layers of muscle and other tissues that stretch like a hammock from the tail bone at the back to the pubic bone in front. The pelvic floor muscles control the bladder and the bowels. Kegel exercises are directed at these muscles.
