About the book:

Seeds of Hope: A Physician's Personal Triumph over Prostate Cancer
by Michael A. Dorso, MD

[comments by Phoenix5 Webmaster]

Doctors are not immune from disease but seldom do they record their journey as the patient. This is one of them.

Physician Dorso was diagnosed with prostate cancer and his world turned around. Fortunately, he has eloquently recorded his experiences in a style that is both captivating and enlightening as he moved from the shock of the diagnosis and through his research and then treatment and recovery. The book is filled with emotions (from fear to joy), thoughts, reflections and insights, with an occasional - and welcome - touch of humor.

Some will also be relieved to find a doctor admitting - and describing - how he struggled with the language and the literature of cancer, as every patient does. But that is only part of what makes the book insightful.

After considerable research through every option, Dr. Dorso selected seeding (brachytherapy) in Seattle. This book is a rare opportunity for anyone considering the process, a chance to follow one man through the entire process.

Hardbound only. 268 pages. No index but extensive resources in the back including questions to ask your doctor.

Published 2000, by Acorn Publishing. US $20.00 for hardbound. An electronic on-line edition is also available for US $6.00. Both can be obtained from Acorn's Web site.
