William Martin is the Harry and Hazel Chavanne Professor of Religion and Public Policy in the Department of Sociology at Rice University in Houston, Texas, and Senior Scholar in the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, also at Rice. His numerous magazine articles have appeared in such publications as The Atlantic Monthly, Harper's, Esquire, and Texas Monthly. He is the author of five other books, including A Prophet With Honor: The Billy Graham Story (William Morrow, 1991) and With God on Our Side: The Rise of the Religious Right in America (Broadway Books, 1996), the companion volume to the PBS series of the same name. Dr. Martin has discussed My Prostate and Me on hundreds of radio and television stations in the United States and Canada and speaks frequently to prostate-cancer support groups and other organizations concerned with assisting cancer patients. In his role as a sociologist, Dr. Martin has appeared on 60 Minutes, Nightline, Today, The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour, All Things Considered, 20/20, and Frontline.
