(The following is from the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center.)
The incision for a penile implant, which may be either semi-rigid or an inflatable prosthesis. These drawings illustrate the inflatable form only. The equipment is different from a semi-rigid prosthesis but the principles and techniques for insertion are similar for both procedures.
After an incision has been made on the underside of the penis, the tissues on both sides of the urethra are expanded to allow placement of the implants.
Implants in place, surgical incision closed with absorbable sutures.
