white blood cells

Definition: micro photo of blood cells Refers to a blood cell that does not contain hemoglobin. White blood cells are made by bone bone marrow and help the body fight infection and other diseases, as part of the immune system.

In this micro-photo of blood cells, platelets are stained purple. A T-Lymphocyte white cell is stained green, and a Monocyte white cell is stained gold. Red blood cells are red.
