Definition: (pro-LAK-tin) A hormone which appears to play a role in prostate development. It is reported that some men treated with hormone therapy develop hyperprolactinemia (HY-per-pro-lak-tih-NEE-me-ah) or elevated levels or prolactin that could play role in the onset of androgen-resistant tumors.
