anastomosis

Definition: a hose being connected to a faucet (an-AS-ta-MO-sis) A procedure to connect healthy sections of tubular structures in the body after the diseased portion has been surgically removed.

It is done in a prostatectomy to connect the bladder and the urethra after the prostate is removed. The danger is a contracture.
