Introduction

Having any form of cancer can be very difficult and emotionally trying. Many cancer patients find great value in participating in support groups. Support group members can give each other advice on the forms of treatment to consider, physicians who provide good care and wise advice, and many other matters involving how to deal with family and friends.

We also know that having a support network may well be helpful in itself. One notable study has suggested that women treated for breast cancer who participated regularly in the activities of breast cancer support groups survived longer than those who did not! It is probably true that discussing personal issues with other prostate cancer patients who have already had to deal with these issues themselves is valuable. Of course, the sort of support that different people seek varies from person to person. The organizations listed below will all most likely be willing to help you but you need to choose an organization which best suits your personal needs.
